Cupping Therapy

Traditional myofascial decompression therapy for pain relief and tissue mobility.

Overview

Cupping therapy uses negative pressure suction to decompress soft tissues, increase local blood flow, and release fascial restrictions. Our certified therapists apply dry cupping techniques as an adjunct to manual therapy and exercise, targeting myofascial trigger points, chronic muscle tension, and movement restrictions. It's particularly effective for back pain, shoulder dysfunction, and postural syndromes.

Benefits

Reduced muscle tension and trigger point sensitivity
Improved local circulation and tissue oxygenation
Release of fascial adhesions and restrictions
Decreased pain perception through neurophysiological mechanisms
Enhanced tissue mobility and glide
Complementary to exercise and manual therapy
Non-pharmacological pain management option

Our Process

1

Soft Tissue Assessment

Palpation for trigger points, fascial restrictions, areas of hypersensitivity, and movement dysfunction patterns.

2

Cupping Application

Strategic placement of silicone or glass cups with controlled suction intensity, using static, dynamic, or flash cupping techniques.

3

Movement Integration

Active movement with cups in place (dynamic cupping) to enhance tissue glide and neuromuscular re-education.

4

Post-Treatment Care

Hydration guidance, gentle stretching, and activity modification recommendations for optimal response and minimal soreness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Circular marks (ecchymosis) are common and typically fade within 3-7 days. They are not bruises from trauma but rather indicate areas of stagnation being released. Most patients feel only mild soreness.
Cupping is generally safe but contraindicated over open wounds, infections, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, and during pregnancy (certain areas). We screen thoroughly before treatment.
Typically 4-8 sessions over 2-4 weeks for chronic conditions, often combined with exercise therapy for lasting results.
